SCIENCE WING + THEATER RESTORATION

The scope of work includes the demolition and construction of a new science wing on the same site.  The Science Wing is a single story building with two classrooms, a biology lab, chemistry lab, teaching lab, and teachers’ work room.  The existing theater connected to the science wing is now restored to its original condition.  The rehabilitation includes ADA upgrades, seismic rehabilitation analysis, geotechnical investigation, and fire, life, and safety design analysis.

ANNEX REPAIR

What began as a building condition assessment quickly grew into a far more comprehensive project, following our initial forensic investigation and evaluation of the campus, which revealed numerous construction defects.  The Annex Building was concluded to be unsafe for occupancy.  The 8,000 SF science classroom-wing was condemned and evacuated.  The Annex was saved by implementing an exhaustive destructive forensic investigation.  The building was stripped to its frame, and then authentically reconstructed.  The “modernized” suspended acoustical ceilings were removed, and the original ceiling heights restored with pendant direct/indirect lighting.  Eight 24’x40’ relocatable classroom buildings were placed to handle the evacuation.

Davy Architecture also renovated a portion of the Administration Building, replacing an old library with a new special education classroom and three offices, and refurbishing the multi-purpose room and the exterior building finishes.
