As part of the Whole Site Modernization scope mandated by Proposition S and Z Project Bond List, the Davy Architecture design team conducted several on-site investigations of the existing Emerson campus to evaluate the existing condition of the campus throughout the Winter of 2015/2016. The design team reviewed all existing as-built documentation available from the District’s Plan Storage Room and District design guidelines, and District educational specifications. Our field observations addressed general site improvements, including the existing synthetic turf field, hardscape and landscape areas, parking and circulation, off-site improvements, utilities, building systems and interior and exterior finishes.

With respect to the existing structures, our facility condition assessment focused on the adequacy of repurposing the current multi-purpose building originally completed in 1976. This scenario also proposes that the existing food service building component, originally completed in 1949, be demolished. All other existing buildings are proposed to be demolished due to the age of building.
